Membership and Associate Membership

St. James Chapter sponsors the Jamestown Society, National Society of the Children of the American Revolution, Westminster, United Kingdom.

Any woman over eighteen years of age, irrespective of her nationality, race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR. She should be able to provide substantiated documentation for every instance of birth, marriage and death within her lineage. She does not need to be an American citizen.

We adhere to principles of inclusivity, ensuring that no applicant faces discrimination based on race or creed.

Upon approval by the NSDAR National Board of Management, the applicant will be issued with a membership number and inducted into membership by her Home Chapter (St. James). Each DAR member is an integral part of the broader National Society, channelling her service through her respective chapter to bolster the collective strength and advancement of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

If you are ready to discover how to become a part of the DAR, we’re here to guide you through the application project with expertise and support. Prospective St. James Chapter members are cordially invited to reach out to us as their starting point. We offer aid in preparing applications before their submission to the National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Our support ensures that your application is primed for verification, setting you well on the path to DAR membership.

Our Chapter Registrar collaborates closely with the renowned DAR Genealogy Research Service (GRS) situated in Washington, D. C., and with DAR member genealogy volunteers to provide guidance and assistance with the application process. These partnerships ensure that prospective members receive adept assistance in tracing their lineage back to an ancestor who played pivotal roles in the American Revolution. We can provide guidance throughout the research journey, helping you establish your lineage and submit your membership application.

By completing the application process, you will discover what countless other DAR members have discovered: the thrill of finding out how their ancestors helped achieve American independence, thus enriching their family histories and enjoying a shared heritage with hundreds of thousands of women making an impact our way of life today.

Associate membership with St. James Chapter is open to any current DAR member in ‘Good Standing’ with their Home Chapter and is an invitation to actively contribute and engage with our Chapter. Within our Units Overseas Chapter, your involvement can take various meaningful forms. From sharing valuable suggestions and crafting relevant newsletter articles to lending a hand at our Chapter sales table during the Units Overseas Luncheon during Continental Congress, your participation adds vibrancy.

Associate Membership extends the opportunity to align with our Chapter that may hold personal significance, whether it is your ancestral roots, cherished friendships, or a special affinity, our Chapter welcomes your unique connection.

Your Associate membership serves as a vital contribution, amplifying our Chapter’s financial capacity to fuel impactful projects, bestow rewards, and foster dynamic activities.
